Portrait & figure painting in oils

Join us in February 2026 at the Tivoli Institute, Dublin for a 3 day oil painting workshop with artist Mustafa Özel.
Under Mustafa’s guidance, you’ll learn his approach to portrait and figurative painting in oil working with a life model. During the course of the weekend, participants will gain insight into Mustafa’s distinctive approach to oil painting.
The workshop will focus on topics such as anatomy, colour, tone, constructing a palette, mark making and developing emotion and expression in a painting. Mustafa will share and discuss core artistic principles - both theoretical and practical, as tools to gain a greater understanding of portrait and figure painting.
Workshop schedule
Days 1-3
Friday February 13th, Saturday February 14th, Sunday February 15th
Morning Session: 10 am – 1 pm
Lunch:1 pm – 2 pm
Afternoon Session: 2 pm – 5.45 pm
Materials
Basic painting materials will be provided including easels, tables, drawing boards, some solvents and papers as well as a life model.
You’ll receive a full list of materials to bring on registration.
Location
The Tivoli Institute is located in the centre of Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin. Just 5 minutes walk from the sea and 5 minutes walk from Sandycove/Glasthule DART station.
Booking
Bookings are now open and can be secured with a 50% deposit. The balance can be paid before the workshop start date. Please note that this deposit is non-refundable if cancelled within 30 days of the start date.
