December 6th, 2025 at Segotia Dublin

Join artist Bríd Higgins Ní Chinnéide for an intensive single day, focused on portrait painting from life in oils.

This intensive workshop is designed to sharpen your observational skills and deepen your understanding of form, proportion, and light as they relate to the human face. Working with a life model, Bríd will guide you through the essential process of capturing the subject’s essence and character.

Key areas we’ll focus on include:

  • Understanding form and structure.

  • Exploring how light interacts with the figure.

  • Brushwork techniques for oil portraiture.

You’ll receive personalised critiques and technical guidance from Bríd throughout the day.

Basic studio materials including easels, tables, and solvents are provided, along with the life model. Spaces are limited to ensure focused attention for every participant.

This workshop is beginner friendly.

A full materials list will be sent beforehand.

About the artist

Bríd Higgins Ní Chinnéide is an accomplished Irish oil painter, based in Dublin, celebrated for her compelling figurative work and portraits.

With a strong academic foundation in drawing and painting from the Repin Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia, her paintings primarily feature figures and faces, often exploring the intricate social dynamics of groups through portraiture.

Bríd's recent projects include the "In Residence" series, where she created compelling 3-hour portraits of fellow artists, and her explorations of perspective, as seen in her painting "View from the Podium," which ingeniously incorporates a small self-portrait from the sitter's viewpoint.

Her work has been exhibited in Dublin and London, including solo exhibitions at venues like The Dean Art Studios and Hang Tough Contemporary, showcasing her mastery of oil paints on various surfaces.
